I am a self-made professional who has recently started exploring the world of philosophy, particularly Stoicism. I have two extraordinary children and my wife, whom I have had an amazing journey with for over 35 years. Fingers crossed, maybe we will get another 30 years. I have worked in the tech industry for over 30 years, with 20 of those years spent in a specialized field of data recovery and digital forensics. After many years and various careers, I now find myself drawn to contemplating life’s deeper questions. While I don’t claim to have all or any answers, I am eager to engage in thoughtful discussions about the nature of existence, the human condition, and other significant topics.
My introduction to philosophy began around 2019 over bourbon and backyard barbecues with friends. Over the years, these discussions piqued my interest and prompted me to explore the subject more deeply. I have never truly enjoyed reading for pleasure, as time has always been a limited resource. However, these conversations were often one-sided since I lacked a real reference point beyond my limited understanding of philosophical teachings. Initially, this turned into reading for research, but it has become a source of enjoyment. This brings me to the introduction to the renowned poet Joseph Brodsky; you can find that list here. Since then, I’ve been on a journey of intellectual discovery, and I’m excited to share my evolving perspectives in a spirit of curiosity.
If you share an interest in philosophy, I welcome you to join me on this journey of discovery.
